Christmas begins at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

This week, I was fortunate enough to head along to one of my favourite spots in Birmingham; the Botanical Gardens. They are currently hosting their Christmas event, which is taking place until early January, and promising locals a 'magical, illuminated' trail.

Along with the #BrumBloggers family, we enjoyed the sounds and sights of a Christmas wonderland, and it was a brilliant way to kick December off. From disco balls hanging from trees and beautiful lit-up reindeer's, to gorgeous lanterns and candy canes, the venue is as gorgeous at night as it is in the day and this particular event is set to be a huge hit with families.

The trail ends with an absolutely beautiful lights display on the lawn, which, in time to beautiful music, is a real treat for the eyes and ears!
A particular highlight for me though was the illuminated pictures of the 12 Days Of Christmas, which brought back wonderful memories of my childhood.

During the trail, which took about an hour or so, we even got to meet the big man himself; Santa! As well as this, the event also has gorgeous vintage rides for both kids and adults to have a go on, as well as a couple of food stalls selling hot snacks, which were perfect for a freezing cold night.

I have to say though, if you want to go along too, I really suggest that you wrap up warm. Even me, with a dress, jumper, cardigan, two pairs of tights, boots, gloves and a wooly hat, was still froze! It is worth the cold and it is a really enjoyable evening, but if you can get your hands on a hand warmer or two, you'll enjoy it even more.

I've always loved the Botanical Gardens as it is unlike anything else in the city and it's such a serene, calming venue. What makes their Christmas event so special is a lot like why I love the place so much.

Although just a few minutes out of Birmingham city centre, it feels like a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the German Market, which, although I love, can get a bit too busy at times. If you're looking for something totally different to do, you're bound to love Botanical Gardens' Lights Trail.

Christmas at the Botanical Gardens is underway now until January 1st, 2018. The trail is open from 4.40pm-8pm every night, apart from Christmas Day, and prices start from £10. Find out more here.
